Help Davit Support His Family After a Tragic Loss
Can life change in a single second? For the Karapetyan family, it did.
The father, the pillar of the household, was gone. In 2024, the Karapetyan family lost their father to a heart attack. He had been the family’s only provider, and his death left behind grief and overwhelming uncertainty for his wife and three sons.
And an 18-year-old boy suddenly became the one his whole family had to lean on. What choice did he have? At an age when most young people are thinking about university and spending time with friends, Davit was thinking about how to keep his family standing.
"After my father passed away, everything changed overnight," Davit says. "I wasn’t just the eldest son anymore. I had to become the person my family could rely on."
"I had many dreams before my father died," he says. "But now my priorities have changed. One day, maybe I can dream again."
Davit’s mother suffers from ongoing health problems and can’t work consistently. With three children depending on her, the responsibility quickly fell onto her eldest son.
While still at high school, Davit started working to help provide for his brothers, school by day, work by evening-often carrying far more responsibility than someone his age should have had to bear.
"I knew I couldn't give up," he says. "My younger brothers needed me, and my mother needed my support."
Despite everything, Davit persevered. He graduated from high school and completed his studies in web programming, determined to build a real future for his family.
"I'm ready to do anything to make sure my siblings never stay hungry and to keep supporting my mom through her recovery," he says
