9-year-old Aida was walking slowly next to her father. She was endlessly happy and confused at the same time.
It was going to be her first day at school. Tigran gave Aida's schoolbag to her teacher, kissed the girl and hurried not to be late from work.
'I remember our first meeting with Tigran and his family', tells Armine, SOS social worker, 'I went to their house last year, met Tigran's wife and their 2 little kids. During our talk, I've also learned that Tigran's two elder sons serve in the Army. Tigran has lost his job. He is a welder. However, because of the tough financial situation he was not able to buy appropriate tools to work. On the other hand, the family spent their savings on medicines for their daughter Aida.' They really felt discouraged and in need for help.
Our team did their best to help the family to get on their feet. SOS Children's Villages Armenia provided necessary means for Aida to undergo two surgeries she needed since she was born. After that the girl got medical and psychological support to fully recover. Though she still has to be careful and not carry even her schoolbag or walk fast, I am happy to tell you that she feels much better.
'Together with Tigran we made a list of the necessary tools he needs to work. And when one day I entered their house with the bag of tools, his eyes filled with tears', continues Armine. 'I can't believe that now I can make living for my family. I can buy Aida's medicines, my kids' clothes', Tigran was repeating over and over again. Now when Aida's health is more stable, and Tigran has a job, things are getting better…
