2025: A Year of Change, Trust, and Impact

For the Armenian Charitable Foundation SOS Children’s Villages, 2025 was marked by deep transformation, sustainable growth, and real impact in the lives of children. On the eve of the New Year, we would like to gratefully reflect on the results made possible through the trust and continued support of our SOS Friends.

Thanks to the ongoing commitment of nearly 5,000 SOS Friends across Armenia, we were able to fully secure children’s educational needs for 2026. Your participation in fundraising initiatives—including the charity tennis tournament organized together with the Embassy of Spain and the Children’s Run charity day, held in partnership with the Aznavour Foundation—played a key role in achieving these results.

One of the most significant milestones of the year was the opening of the Shirak Branch, which became our fourth branch in Armenia. This expansion allowed us to extend our services in the Shirak region, supporting children, young people, and families facing difficult life circumstances.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our SOS Friend V* M***, who donated their land and property in the city of Spitak. This symbolic site is deeply connected to the origins of our work, as it marked the beginning of our activities in Armenia following the devastating 1988 earthquake. Thanks to this contribution, children and families in Spitak will benefit from a wide range of services in the years ahead.

In 2025, an important agreement was also signed with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, aimed at the closure of the Gavar Orphanage and the transition of children to family-like and foster care. This historic step represents a major shift in Armenia’s child protection system, and your support played a vital role in making it possible. The deinstitutionalization process continues within the framework of the regional “Child Rights II” programme until 2029, contributing to the development of foster care and the improvement of community-based services across Armenia.

Throughout the year, we supported approximately 4,300 children, young people, and adults from more than 850 families:

  • The number of integrated families reached 16, providing care for over 50 children.
  • Around 500 children, including those from families forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, received day-care services in Kotayk, Tavush, and Yerevan.
  • More than 150 young people took part in the YES – Youth Empowerment for Success programme.

We concluded the year by celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Foundation together with our SOS Friends, partners, and donors.

Thank you for standing with us and for helping build a safer future for children—together.
